Hi guys,
So, I want to lay out the argument here for why I think that those who have missed Elusive Targets should have a second shot at them. Full disclosure of my biases upfront: I SA'd the first two, but missed the most recent two; I was out of the country on business and got back home about an hour after the second one ended, frustratingly.
What I think IO should do is, after a while, maybe a month or two, have the ET's return for another 3-4 day window and post that 'The Forger is back in Paris' or 'The Sensation has been spotted back in Paris'.
That's not to say that if you have successfully killed them or failed to kill them, that you should get another go. No, no. Only if you missed the opportunity to have a go.
I know there are people who have hit all four so far who'll disagree, but my logic is this: at its absolute core, the Elusive Target is about having one 'go' to kill the target, not so much about having 'one time span' to do it. That's being obsessive to the concept to a fault, at the cost of gameplay.
I'm one of the Hitman diehards, I played $100+ to get the collector's edition with the statue, tiepin, art book etc. I have logged so many hours on Hitman 2016 and I think it's becoming a great game.
But my ability to unlocks suits etc. should be based on my skill and prowess in the game, not on my availability to play it. In the real world, people have to travel for work, take holidays with their family, study for exams, attend weddings, etc, and if you are a console gamer, as at least 2/3rds of Hitman players should be, it's not feasible to take your PS or Xbox console with you.
If I fail any of the ETs, I certainly wouldn't want a second go. I don't even agree with those who restart to try and get a perfect run-through. However messy or perfect it is, I want to earn it that way. But I also paid a lot of money for this game, and I want to be able to have more than one shot to play it, that's all I'm asking for.
Rewards should be based on skill, not availability.
I also want to get to enjoy the unique level configurations (like the church being off limit with The Prince, and the gardens being non-trespass zones in The Sensation) and the unique character dialogue and story, which there is a surprising amount of.
SIDE NOTE: What will happen with the ETs when they release the physical version of the game on disc next year? Will those people just not be able to unlock the BM/Absolution suits?
Welcome your thoughts, please keep it polite!
