So, I completed the fifth Elusive Target and, by my logic, got an SA rating, but at the end I had (frustratingly) lost my 20k 'never spotted' bonus.I'm not sure why, but I think it might have been because I shot a car alarm, the target came over and saw me near the car and said 'stop acting weird,' or something like that.
Anyway, it made me think, since this gets asked a lot on the Forum, let's have a list of everything we know definitely causes you to lose your 'never spotted' rating. I'll edit and update this post as things become clearer:
- getting spotted killing someone or dragging a body
- getting spotted brandishing a firearm while not dressed as a suitable authority figure
- getting caught in an unauthorized area, even if you are subsequently escorted out without fuss
- getting spotted wearing a uniform by an enforcer who knows that you're not among the hired waiters/guards/etc
- persistently pushing and elbowing an NPC til the point where they feel they are being harassed and become white dots (this sometimes happens when you get stuck in a doorway and can't get past them).
- getting spotted by a CCTV camera and then failing to later wipe the cameras. (update)
- getting a 'compromised' status at any point (you will know this by using instinct and seeing NPCs glowing orange) even if you are fairly certain the person you pacified didn't get to see you. Sometimes happens when you throw an object at someone who is sideways on to knock them out.
- white suspicion bar 'maxing' (this sometimes happens when a characters white swishing suspicion bar reaches the max but you break the sight line with them at the last second. They will revert to the 'huh?' stage where they just think that they've seen something and go to investigate, but it will count as spotted.)
- Targets: car alarms and coins (TBC?) - getting caught throwing a coin or setting off a car alarm by a target who you later kill. They will say, 'stop acting weird,' or, 'you're being really strange.'
- Getting spotted throwing a fire extinguisher or other melee object (reportedly, TBC)
Any other factors people have noticed? Dropping weapons or ducks? Let's pin this thread as it gets raised often and is a source of much frustration for people...
