I searched the forum before making this and saw a thread on New Game Modes, so I understand why this might get merged but the idea of this thread is to find a way to make all of the unlockables exciting. Based on the gear/unlockables threads I've read, a good deal of users spend more time worrying about what the unlocks will be than happily anticipating them (myself included). I think a game mode could fix this and get everyone excited for every unlock; hear me out.
For the sake of clarity, I will call the game mode Body Count Mode. In this hypothetical game mode, 47 would be able to execute a campaign related contract as usual, except the game's score multipliers would reward you for killing as many NPC's as possible on your path to the designated targets. Since most of the unlocks are useless in the campaign/story mode (severely compromising guns and explosives), the player would begin as usual by creating a pre-mission plan, except they will be given Kevlar armour for 50% extra damage resistance and they will be required to have a firearm smuggled into the location. The game mode would then allow the player to start as they normally would, except the ratings system would wait for the player to engage in combat with their smuggled weapon before starting to record their score and progress all while emphasizing the use of the smuggled weapon and rewarding additional points for the body count caused by the smuggled weapon of the player's choice. So for example, let's say you choose to smuggle in an Enram HV, then you start the mission as you normally would, make your way to the weapon and retrieve it, then start going postal on the NPC's to rack up your Enram HV Body Count. Head shots get more points than limb shots, and both get more points than body shots. The more people you kill during the mission the higher the score. Using explosives and additional weapons increase scores. Killing multiple enemies within a time frame counts as chain takedowns (doublekill, triplekill, etc.) - then you are assigned a rank based on how crazy you went. Did you shoot the people in your way? Or did you wipe out every single person on the map?
Score Factors:
•Kills with your chosen weapon rack up a Body Count multiplier
• Head shots worth most points, then limb shots, then body shots
•Explosives and mayhem add to score
•Witnesses left alive incur large penalty
•Targets must be eliminated with chosen weapon
Then end the mission with a newspaper report that details whether police found everyone dead or if there were witnesses describing 47's appearance. Leaderboard scores would indicate the overall score and the respective weapon w/Body Count.
In my mind this is the perfect way to get people excited to use every unlock we get as well as separate the game into a stealth/canon driven approach and a mass murderer/shoot-em-up approach that pleases both sides of the Hitman Fandom Spectrum. I would be immeasurably happy to see this make its way into the game. I'd even pay a large price for a Body Count Mode DLC, and I know some of you might too.
I'd really like to hear everyone's thoughts on this, but if you disagree I ask that you be respectful. For all I know my idea isn't all that good, but if you feel that way explain yourself kindly and be nice to everyone in the thread
If you have an idea that you think would make the unlocks more fun for everyone please add your input!
